Oh so trendy
Trends come and go, but revenue demands are constant. If you abandon your customers, they will abandon you.
Trends become popular for a reason, but not every trend is right for every business. If you are a historical home museum, you might brainstorm ideas to increase the number of visitors. Another local business recruited a guest speaker to bring in more customers, so you might think that you should too. But if your guest speaker gives a talk on techno music, yes, you may increase your visitor numbers for the day, but you’ve done nothing to help your business. Now customers don’t know if you are a historical house museum or a lecture hall venue. Your yearly revenue could drop if you are no longer seen as an expert in historical homes. And if the techno music lecturer isn’t very good or doesn’t know what he’s talking about, it now makes your organization look bad as you’re the one who promoted him.
Businesses going out of business is also sometimes a trend, but not one I’d recommend following.
