Trader Joe’s has a bit of a reputation for Customer Experience, but what is it about the stores that contributes to their reputation? Is it the products? Doubtful, because while most of the products at Trader Joe’s are of good quality, you can find the same products under different brand names at other stores. Is it the prices? Maybe, Trader Joe’s does have fair prices, but they aren’t the only stores with reasonable prices.

What do Trader Joe’s stores have that others don’t? Their employees.  

Trader Joe’s employees are walking definitions of good Customer Experience. They are friendly and helpful, not only to customers, but also to each other. Customers witness employees assisting each other out demonstrating that their kindness is genuine and not just a show for the customers.

How can you have employees like the ones at Trader Joe’s? You could hire well. But more importantly, you can treat your employees like the gold that they are. When employees feel valued, respected and listened to, they will treat your customers and each other in the same way.
