Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid
An online business created gift boxes for a certain holiday known for giving presents. This in and of itself is great. But the company made a mistake in how they packaged the boxes.
Included in every box, they placed a promotional card listing all the giftbox options they offered. Which is a terrific thought – the people who received the boxes may not have heard of your company and it is a good idea to let them know what else you can do for them. However, the card not only listed the giftbox options, but also the prices. So, the person receiving the giftbox now knew how much was spent on the gift. Yes, they could have looked it up on the website, but that is not as bad as putting the cost right in the box. You might as well of left a receipt in there too.
You must pay attention to the customer journey and understand the path that each customer will be taking. The receiver of a gift does not need to know how much it cost, so don’t put a card with prices on it in their box. Some things are better left unsaid.
