A new homeowner had been looking for a paint color to match the built-in cabinets in one room of their house. He managed to find the name of the business that had constructed them and contacted them for help.

The organization had not only installed the cabinets in the home 12 years ago, but they had also been acquired by another company since the installation.

However, the customer service representative told the customer that it would be no problem to track down the style of the cabinet as they had kept the records of which cabinets they had installed in which house, even from the properties they had worked on before the company changed hands.

This is customer service.

The organization had held on to records for the benefit of their customers, past and present, not for the benefit of themselves. This customer service representative was willing to dive into 12 year-old records to find an answer for a past customer.

This is putting your customers first.
