Stop “delighting” your customers

Customers do not want to be “delighted,” so stop trying to “delight” them.

Customers want their problems solved. They want to have their experience with you to not be frustrating. They want to move on with their lives.

They don’t care about being “delighted.” Just solve their problems. Make their lives easier.

Only small children want to be delighted. So unless, your customers are small children, stop trying to “delight” them. Customers aren’t there to be “charmed,” they are there because they have an issue that your business will solve.

Customer Experience isn’t about “delighting” anyone. It isn’t about “charming” them. It’s about the basics – how are you treating them?

Most people can see through an attempt to “charm” them, it smacks of deceit or condescension. Instead, treat your customers with respect. Truly value them. If you truly care about them, as people not dollar signs, it will show in your interactions.

Forget about “delighting,” treat them as an adult human being.
